CenterPeace Provides Care, Peace of Mind

By Janet Kangas, Editor - Fuquay-Varina Independent - July 16, 2008 (New Release)

Genel Webb had a dream two and a half years ago when she opened CenterPeace Home HealthCare & Companion Services. She wanted to provide compassionate, affordable and reliable care to those who needed help so that they could continue to live independently at home.

Their web site www.cpcompanioncare.com gives a clear summary of Genel’s goals, “At CenterPeace Home HealthCare & Companion Services, LLC we are aware of the growing need for home car that includes Home Health Aides and non-medical Companions. Our service allows individuals to remain in their home and independent longer. We also recognize that people of all ages during different seasons of their lives sometimes require care and assistance. CenterPeace Home HealthCare & Companion Services, LLC provides compassionate and reliable at home care to seniors and people of all ages in all seasons of life.”

Genel’s dream grew and she recently found a way to make it even bigger when she partnered with Tammy Hayes, a nurse who applied to work with CenterPeace. Tammy moved here about two years ago from Utah with her husband and five children. Like Genel, Tammy has many years experience in working with geriatric clients.

“We have a sincere concern for this population,” Genel said. Both wanted to do work where they could help others, involve their families and contribute to a much needed service.

When Tammy suggested that they become partners so that CenterPeace could provide even more services, Genel agreed. “We both felt like we had spiritual guidance to do this,” Genel said.

Together with their husbands, Chuck Webb and Jeffrey Hayes, Tammy and Genel became partners. Both agreed that without the support of their families they would not be able to create the solid operation they have in place. “I couldn’t do this without my husband’s support,” Genel said.

One of their first steps toward expansion of CenterPeace was to move it from an at-home operation to a storefront at 521 Broad St., in Varina. Genel and Tammy are co-managing directors. Tammy handles the in-home aide service and Genel manages the companion care.

“We want to serve the communities where we live with compassion and integrity,” Genel said. They also plan to hire nurse aides and companions locally. They are hiring certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and companions. “We can give back to the community by providing jobs right here in Fuquay-Varina, Tammy said.

While they provide service for the elderly, they also serve people of all ages including children with disabilities. Their companion care ranges from light meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry to companion visiting, reading, providing medication reminders or giving family caregivers a break. They have helped new mothers, accident victims and others who are physically challenged. They will even provide a companion to visit family members who are hospitalized or in a nursing care facility, a service that Genel said many don’t realize is available. “Sometimes, you aren’t able to check in as often as you would like on your family member. We can help by going to the hospital or nursing home to check on their meals or just visit”, she said.

CenterPeace will hold an Open House on Friday, July 18 at noon. Genel and Tammy will be on hand to answer any questions. For more information about their services, go to www.cpcompanioncare.com or call 919-567-8200.
